Loving the LORD with all my STRENGTH

Uncategorized

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:31

It’s our last week of “ALL of ME,” loving the LORD with ALL of our HEART, SOUL, MIND, and STRENGTH here at Refocused Bible Study! Make sure to stayed tuned to see what we will be Refocusing on in March as we prepare our hearts for EASTER. Announcement coming soon!

This week we are Refocusing on loving the LORD with All of our STRENGTH! If you missed the intro video for this week, make sure to check it out below, so you can hear our main focus: depending on God’s strength within us and not striving to “do good” on our own.

Let’s face it, it’s not popular to be dependent on anyone else. It’s attractive to appear to have it all together. To do it all. To be it all. But girls, sometimes, we find ourselves overwhelmed. I hear from ladies all the time that we are juggling so many plates, we don’t know which one is in our hand at the moment,

This is my story too. My hands are full, and so is my heart, but sometimes, I realize I have been running at a sprinter’s pace for a marathon, and I’m about to collapse.

Have you been there, friend?

Have you forgotten to run at your “safe pace” so you can go the distance?

I enjoy running. It’s my exercise of choice. Don’t be impressed or anything, I’m slow. I have to keep my pace around a ten minute mile if I want to make it five miles or more. But hey, I’m still running, right? I’m doing my thing. However, if I forget my “safe pace” and find myself running nine miles a minute or under, I know I’ll be done running within the next few minutes. I’ll have to quit for the day.

And that’s fine when I am just doing my daily run.

But it’s not fine in life when I want to quit on the good things God has clearly called me to do.

…like my daughter’s hair.

We are a multi-racial family and my daughter has different hair than me. When we first adopted her, I spent hours on her hair, delighting in this labor of love to help her feel adored and cared for.

But this latest season, I just got worn out with it. She is getting older and her younger styles that I used to adorn her with, she had outgrown. I needed to take time to learn some new styles but… that takes time… that I just didn’t feel like I had the extra energy for.

I had grown weary of the hair ministry.

You’ve been there, right?

Just too tired to keep up with something on your plate.

We’ve all been here. Weary of what God’s called us to do.

Weary in our ministry.

Weary in our marriage.

Weary in our mothering.

Weary in our health/fitness.

Weary in our workplace.

Just plain TIRED.

God knows. Listen to what he says when we just don’t have the strength to keep at the pace we were running:

“Have you never heard?
    Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

He gives power to the weak
    and strength to the powerless.

Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:28-31

He turns our focus off of ourself and our weariness and he reminds us of who HE IS.

The Creator. The Everlasting God who promises new strength if we trust in Him.

So how do we trust in Him when we are weary?

Be honest with your Father.

Tell him what you are weary about. Ask Him to help you, to send new strength to keep on keeping on in what He’s asked you to do.

He will be so faithful.

Let me tell you what he did for me recently.

In one conversation, he affirmed I was capable of turning a new leaf on my daughter’s hair care. And he fixed my whole point of view. He gave me new strength to walk and not faint.

Now my daughter loves her new do, and is walking around in confidence and joy.

Friend, what are you contemplating “quitting” that you know God has called you to? Comment below and let us know! We will pray for you, give you ideas, and cheer for you!
